My first blog! With so many creative heads blogging around, I am finding it so lame to write this one as my '1st ever blog', on something related to Ubuntu! Jeezz...! But that's what my blog profile title says, and so it has to be that way... Unusual! (:
So, I have been using Ubuntu since a long time i.e., 5 months before the date you are seeing this blog posted (Yeah, I call that 'long'!). It was never that I wanted to use it, BUT rather I was forced to use it. And when you are forced to use a thing for a long time, you tend to start liking it right? (Ahh... humans you know!) It's a completely different break-up & make-up story I have, with Windows & Ubuntu, which we can talk later. (and as if you care, huh?) Although, my blog profile says 'An Unusual Start', I can't see myself getting the 'crappiest blog award' by putting up everything unusual. :D With having said all that, let me get to the whole point of getting this blog to this world.
Recently, people have been using Spotify like crazy; you give them a thing and they will atrociously make use of it. Spotify with Facebook has just fallen prey for it. No wonder I am a human too, and so, I wanted to use the Spotify app, which will let people know, what I am listening to, while they waste their time keeping a watch on the timeline of their life! Spotify wasn't on Linux initially, but was on Mac & Windows OS (Reason? Everyone hates the ugly!) But, sooner or later it had to get on Linux, and so today I have found it! The installation is pretty easy, which you will get it on http://www.spotify.com/us/download/previews/.
I was all happy to get things started, until I found that, Ubuntu is just not allowing me to install any new packages, with annoying errors like, "Reading package lists... Error!". The best one can do is, take help of the Internet God 'The Google', to know your answers for life! And one of the forums suggested that, the error is a bug in all Ubuntu xx.xx versions. The only solution that worked for me was to remove all the older entries and download the latest ones with a simple 2 line command, which is,
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update
(can also put these commands in shell script to get executing it without
having it remembered, as you might use this command if you face problems
in future, installing any packages with a similar error on Linux)
having it remembered, as you might use this command if you face problems

And it all worked like a charm! Saving my Ubuntu life!
If you found this 1st blog of my mine 'unusually' cool, you can like it or share it, and of course commenting will be free your entire life...:)
